I was wondering, is it possible to still Personal Hotspot/Tether when you are in a non 3G coverage area, i.e. EDGE, GPRS coverage only?

What tariff is this on?
It's the tariff with 300 minutes, unlimited texts, 20 free MMS messages, with the iPhone all rounder bolt on. £37 per month.

If you think it is slow on an iphone 4 try it on a 3GS. Wifi tethering is possible on gprs, but you may as well pour yourself a Guiness while you wait for it to connect.
The tethering/personal hotspot is a handy feature to have, but I wouldn't advise using it when in a GPRS only coverage area. 3G, EDGE yes, but GPRS only when it were important.

How can you get tethering now? I was told they are not going to allowed it until May. I will go for the 1GB of data as I am always reach about 900mb cos of downloading music tracks from iTunes. I too have an iPad 1
Has far as I know tethering is the same thing as personal hotspot. In the 4.3 iOS update, the entry for tethering in the settings on the iPhone 4 was replaced with Personal Hotspot. I have used personal hotspot a number of times this week, so it definitely is working now

Don't worry I just tried it out of interest on my GS after you asked the question. With 3G I agree it is great and the wifi connection works as well as my local pubs wifi!
