Why is O2 advertising free upgrades to 4g for iPhone 5 customers? What about the rest of us??? Ive been with O2 for years and I'd like the option to upgrade to 4g asap. I've just had samsungs FLAGSHIP galaxy s3 and think it should be offered to me as well...

I see your point but it isn't exactly a free upgrade and will still necessitate buying out the remainder of your contract and taking out a new one. OK there is a little saving and it allows you to upgrade early but I would be interested to read customer reviews/costs from people who take up the offer.

In fairness the option should be open to non-iphone users, especially customers who are paying out just as much money for a high end smart phone.

Holding this to iPhone 5 customers is giving o2 a bad rep. It's a slap in the face to anyone who didn't want a faster iPhone 3gs. Cos there isn't any difference between my old 3gs and the new 5 except speed. Now it seems o2 is punishing me for choosing what I decided was a better phone. Please give every customer the same respect.

jonsie's right it's not that big a deal, but you too are right in pointing out that O2 do seem to give Apple customers preferential treatment.

I wonder why? Smiley Surprised

Just got to say.

Samsung s3 supports 800, 1,800 and 2,600MHz ranges.

the iPhone 5 only supports 1800mhz which is rented by EE.

So therefore you have nothing to worry about the spectrum that O2 will buy will be available to the s3 be it by bolt on or just added into the contract.

This is why they're offering the promo to iPhone 5 users when they release a updated iPhone that will be able to make use of all British frequencies. Or the promo would allow us to swap to a s3 or whatever.

It's definatly not cost effective so don't feel left out haha
