No 3G on my new iPhone 5C

Anonymous
Not applicable
I purchased a new iPhone 5C last Friday and it arrived yesterday. I was connected to my home wifi so I thought everything was working fine. But today whilst out at college I realised I have no 3G and therefore cannot access slant form of internet on cellular which is the main reason I bought the phone! Instead I have GPRS?

Has anyone ever had this problem?

If you don't get anywhere with this then I would strongly recemmend booking a Genius appointment at your nearest Apple store to get the phone checked out. Failing that, think about returning the phone as you are still within the 7 day happiness period.

If you have GPRS it suggests the phone is set up correctly but you may have an issue with 3G in your location. Put your postcode in here to check http://status.o2.co.uk/

Also, just check you have 3G toggled on in settings.....

Make sure you have 3G toggled on in settings.

Check your postcode for local mast problems : O2 Service Status

Try removing and cleaning sim card and rebooting phone.

Try settings>general>network>reset network settings

Also advice here : Connecting iPhone to Data Services - O2 Community

Hi.

It can take up to 24 hours for your service to settle if it's a new contract or upgrade involving a sim swap. Try turning your phone off and on. Or press the top button and home button until the apple appears and then let go.

Try ; settings , general , reset , reset network settings.

Is their any form of internet logo in your status bar near the O2 logo.

Such as 3G / e or GPRS.

Check your apn settings.

If no joy then ring O2 on O2 Customer Services. 202 for Contract >4445 for PAYG>8002 for Business to have your account checked.

Did you have a non-iphone before this on O2?

If so your settings will be wrong (using non-iphone data addon)

You can either:

1) Ring o2 and have them switch your data bundle to the iphone one

2) CHange your APN to mobile.o2.co.uk in place of idata.o2.co.uk

Option 1 is best as it also gives you tethering (mobile hotspot) and visual voicemail.

No I haven't yet, I left it 24 hours as some people suggested but I still have no 3G anywhere (I've travelled over 20 miles and there's none anywhere) I've tried everything people have suggested so I'm going to ring O2 in a bit, I've not been on O2 or had an iPhone before so I'm new to this. Hope they get it sorted later over the phone
