My screen keeps freezing ie no pointed cursor ...

... so I switch my laptop off at the on / off button ... & loose what I'd been typing

which must be one of the 1st things we were taught not to do when I did some word processing over 22 years ago

Any ideas ?

Just to update

laptop back from centre with Windows 10 properly installed

touch pad mouse disabled

nice man connected it to printer, I could not find disk 

& in response to my question do you do tablets? he said yes with his contacts he could offer me a good deal, after I've had a play about on them in the town's cpw ... he also warned me that they would browbeat me, I don't like being pounced upon so I shall state I'm just browsing
