Further to the problems with Samsung Europa multiple text messages. I left O2 and went to Vodaphone, where I purchased the phone and signed up on a SIM only contract. Originally they were blaming the SIM card, that was replaced, then they were blaming the handset, and that was replaced. Guess what, I'm still having the same annoying problem of messages been sent multiple times, my record up to now is 37 times in the space of three days for one text. Old texts appear despite being deleted and I'm getting a bit sick of checking my phone all the time only find its a message that was sent two weeks ago. Don't blame O2, its an Android problem. Dump the phone and get an iPhone or non-Android version. I live in the North East (TS17), I don't think it matters where you live it must be a software problem.

I also have this problem. It seems texts are repeated from certain numbers, so far only o2 based numbers have been duplicated (sometimes as many as 18 times...). Messages sent from 3 network seem fine though...

I bought the Samsung Galaxy europa a month ago and I've been getting multiple texts for about a week now, only from the O2 network, it's driving me crazy, some have come in at least 50 times, also delayed texts coming in a week or so after they've been sent (and then repeating endlessly of course). This morning when I put it on the phone had put itself in airplane mode and wiped all my contacts. Fortunately I still have them in my old phone so I loaded them back onto the sim but it won't read them, I don't know if this is related or not. In the O2 shop in Dorchester today they told me there's a software problem with the phone, pity they can't let anybody know on the website or in fact that the customer service doesn't know about it as this has obviously been going on for at least a month reading what other people have written and they couldn't help me at all when I called about it before Christmas. Is this the great customer service O2 boast about????

This is the most annoying fault I've ever known. What's the point in my buying a phone (Galaxy Europe on O2) for my work, only to constantly ignore messages as I know they are 5 days old from my wife, asking what I want for dinner?
I've tried many of the 'solutions' I've read on-line and am about to try the 'select other network' then the 'hard reset' methods, as listed here.
I'll let you know what happens in my case and the only good thing about it, is knowing there are many others with this problem - and not some temporary insanity on my part - although i will be certifiable if this keeps happening!
Stay tuned as they say! 😞

Does your head in don't it? Just trying the hard reset thing from here
http://www.howtoreset.com/Samsung_Units ... Reset.html
I can't get the exclamation thing up though, so I'll keep trying, but it is rebooting. Sent a test message from wife's phone -guess what?
The same "What do you fancy for dinner?" from 5 days ago!
I'll keep trying anyway bud and let you know how I progress.

I spoke to an O2 lady in customer service and she says they are well aware of this problem and it is at their end, not ours, so no need to keep resetting, removing battery etc as it will be sorted soon. So they say anyway.
Looks like all we can do is wait, but I do feel better knowing that they know about it. slight_smile

I purchased this phone for my daughter as a Christmas present, something I really regret doing.Everything was fine until recently when my daughter complained of repeatedly receiving a text from me.Since then the same has occurred with her mum and a school friend. Both of who are also on O2,as a result any texts since then she doesn't receive.I spoke to O2 customer services and surprisingly the woman said she knew nothing of this issue.I informed her that there is even this O2 forum on this problem, and that apparently O2 engineers are working on it.She advised me to retrun the phone to CPW and request a replacement.I then informed her that other users have tried that, but to no avail. No matter what I said,it didn't make any difference. It was like talking to a brick wall,I've been an O2 customer for 15 years, and this has made me think twice about being on O2 customer.
I will take this phone back to CPW on Monday, and I'm pretty sure that the same situation will occur with my replacement phone.I will let you know of the outcome,as I know there are so many of us out there with the same problem.
As for this supposed Samsung update, sounds like they're fobbing us off.

went into o2 shop regarding multiple texts and was told they were aware of the software problem and they were stopping selling the galaxy europa. i was told to go and pick another phone to exchange.the alternative was to send the phone to samsung for 'possible' repair.as my exchange date was due up i was being pressurised into keeping a faulty phone or getting another model i didn't really want.the o2 staff were very unhelpful. in another o2 shop the manager said he knew nothing of the problem and was continuing to sell the phone. any ideas ?

I'm worried by the conflicting messages we all seem to be getting and I intend to march on Carphone warehouse tomorrow, with a view of getting to the bottom of this once and for all, or I want my money back. I was assured that O2 engineers are well aware of this problem and are working on it.
As a long time O2 customer, I too feel very let down by both the lack of action on their part and by the conflicting information on our dilemma. I am still getting multiple texts and it is STILL very annoying.
I'm also beginning to feel like I've misled other forum members by passing on what appears to be misleading, or plain wrong information from O2 Customer services.
