You would normally be sent a pin number by text for verification purposes unless the Web page says it will send an email to your registered address.

You certainly won't get a letter in the post unless it was a banking site or a business account. Which site wants a verification?

I can find backpage.com but no mention of any postal communications in their privacy policy at all https://my.backpage.com/classifieds/PrivacyPolicy
