Leaving O2 (anyone else feeling the same?)

I know this has been discussed a few times before but i just wanted to see if anyone was getting the same impression from O2 that i have been getting?

I have been an O2 Pay monthly customer for 6 years , my average monthly spend across this period has been £50 a month. before taking out the monthly contract i was a PAYG customer for 3 years regularly updating my phone and topping up at least £20 a month.

I have had no problems with the service recieved, and the contracts offered have always been good value and provided me with a choice of handsets and options..... untill recently that is!

The reason i have now decided to leave O2 is because they are basically giving me no choice.

The contracts are no longer competative and the choice of handsets is currently by far the worst on the market. If you dont want a iPhone there is very little to chose from, and what is on offer is outdated.

My last contract expired in May, i enquired about the iphone but for what i wanted it was to expensive and decided against taking the contract but was willing to wait for new options to arrive and switched to the £20 simplicity to fill the gap in contracts and see what O2 would have done once the second quater came to and end.

What they did was nothing! There are very few new desirable handsets and nothing has been offered to me by O2 (basically i think their is little interest in holding onto customers who dont want an iphone or something similar). So basically i have only one option left move to orange or vodaphone and actually get some choice.

Im pretty dissapointed i dont really want to leave O2 but there is nothing on offer i want and no sign of this changing. 4 months down the line and the choice of handsets still hasnt changed.

Is anyone else finding the same thing when it comes to remewing thier contract??

I am leaving to go back to vodafone now they have the rights to the iphone 3gs, as when i asked for an early upgrade was told i dont spend enough, well now that o2 don't have the monopoly on the iphone, they won't mind not getting any of my money.

They're introducing a traffic management policy so things should start to perk up. According to one of the other topics its going live on the 5th

Hmm, seems there's rather a lot of bitter people on this thread, leaving because o2 wouldn't give them the early upgrade, discount etc they thought they could demand.

Oh well, each to their own.

apparently vodafone have some great deals but we are all being played off by these companies as we all like to communicate hence we do on here even. it is almost obscene some of the charges they make. for text and other such things then they can be free on other occasions????? why dont they do us all a favour stop sending us to speak to underpaid indians and lets all have a fair deal. restore our faith in human nature and give us all some of the pie that they so richly dig into to line their pockets and not their souls. saddened by the reality that greed will see they do not ever play fair and always keep back the next phone that is to make more money and the last one to fill more landfills until the world they so richly devour is gone ......................................

I've mentioned this on another topic but you sign into a 18/24 month contract you should expect to serve that time, any early upgrade is a bonus.

Also the discounts were out of control, I for one am glad that O2 have stopped the stupid retention deals they were giving at times, it is a business after all.

Don't be so damn rude, the call centres for O2 at least are in the UK and even when they were in INdia (they still deal with some back office work) they are far from some 'underpaid Indian'. :womanindifferent:

You'd be bitter too if you'd have had under 1mb bandwidth along with stupidly high pings at peak times, kept getting fobbed off with excuses like "a fix is on its way", not being able to leave the contract without paying charges... for pretty much a whole year now.
This traffic shaping should have been introduced months and months ago when the problem first arose, instead they kept offering new customers free months of broadband while the rest of us still had to pay the regular price, which only adds to the congestion on an overly congested network!

I was referring to o2 moblie as opposed to broadband, people thinking they can demand a free upgrade to an iPhone 3gs when they're only 13 months into an 18 month contract etc etc etc.
