Yup - exactly the same here. The update downloaded fine, rebooted, gets to around 25% and now just the picture of the phone and the warning triangle...
This is only the 2nd OTA update I've had, the first bricked my phone and had to send it back - hopefully this isn't a repeat of that 😐

Anyone have any idea what this update is for? And, would o2 replace my handset based on this update failing?

Thank you for contacting HTC regarding your HTC Desire.
I understand that the recent system update does not work, it downloads, then starts to update then crashes at the same point each time ( 25% through, then stops).
I am sorry the system update doesn't install. I believe the reason for this could be related to the SD
card corrupted files.
In order to fix the issue you can copy the SD content to the PC by setting the phone as disk drive. After this format the SD card to start from fresh.
How to format the SD.
From setting > SD & phone storage > Unmount SD > OK > Erase SD card >Tap Erase everything. The memory card has been formatted.
If needed you can also hard reset the phone to set it to factory default settings.
