1. What is on the update
2. Why is it that an update that is failing a lot (the views for this and the irish board issue that does better in serps) are huge - this is clearly an issue! is still available and not being fixed!
Disappointed, particularly with HTC - if it was a geographic or an 0800 number I would be more happy to call it...!

Having had a failed install of this update I did try formatting the SD card and factory resetting the phone.
Still failed to install the update.
Anything from O2 about this issue yet?
*still waiting patiently*

O2's silence on this matter is really tempting me into rooting my phone...
*UPDATE: O2 have advised me to try installing the update through HTC Sync on my pc. I will try this and report back.

I downloaded the update and copied the zip file from my phone's SD card to my PC.
The update is clearly intended for GERMAN phones. The filename says "O2 DE" along with lots of numbers. Inside the zip there are files which reference the GERMAN validation number mentioned by CJPHTCDesire earlier ("O2___102"), which is what the update is trying to validate against on our phones and is what is causing the error.
So the problem is not with our phones, but the update itself.
Someone is at fault here - either HTC have sent out the wrong update, or O2 have failed to make the necessary changes to the update in order for it to be applied to UK phones.
I will email HTC when I get home, and send them a copy of the zip file.
Is there any way I can contact o2 by email, instead of using their "Chat with a Guru" feature?
Cheers

Why oh Why is O2 so silent on the subject, my 2 year contract is up in May 2012, so far not much to encourage me to continue with them.

These are customer forums with little input from o2 that is why no comments from o2 here try one of the other methods to actually get a response
