Today I had a further text in from O2:
"Do you call numbers beginning with 084, 087, 09 or 118? From 17th August the amount you're charged for calls to these numbers will change. This won't affect inclusive minutes or standard calls to UK landlines or mobiles. 0800 and 0808 calls are free. Find out more at http://s.o2.co.uk/YDvdg5
When you click on the link from your phone...it takes you here

I thought I would post this as it is additional information to the text O2 customers got on the 28th May 2015

I think this new text was to make it that calls to 0800 numbers are free, after we pointed out the ambiguous original text.
Well done @Cleoriff

I received the text yesterday but didn't look at the link until you posted it. I see connection charges are going up by 20p August 17.....that's quite a jump!

I thought that actually. I read the link and thought ...'mmmmmm....lets have this interpreted by someone else'
O2 obviously thought it was important that they informed their customers hence the text. Again it isnt till you read the added link info that you realise it remains ambiguous to say the least

@Bambino wrote:A very old adage @Cleoriff and as true today as it was the day it was coined, which I'm sure was a very long time ago, probably from a Las Vegas casino.
Talking of 'Casino' @Bambino I will give you a quote from that great film ...(which I loved by the way)
"Listen to me very carefully. There are three ways of doing things around here: the right way, the wrong way, and the way that *I* do it. You understand?"
So maybe the interpretation of those 'free' numbers could be linked to that...:smileywink:

I will continue to use overseas numbers for the utility companies and banks. Clear as mud as MI5 stated some while ago. I'm wondering why the 17th August is specified, is it Ronan Dunne's birthday and he gets a generous pay increase from monies milked from us customers?
