I want to start a new thread about this as it is being mentioned on another one (taking it off topic)
I know we have discussed and had an explanation about Deleting Posts...to some extent I can understand the reason why we can't do that...
However, editing posts is a very different ball game in my opinion.
I often notice spelling mistakes I have made (purely by trying to dash a response off quickly)...if I notice them immediately, I edit immediately and no problem...
However, if I see it hours later it galls me that the edit facility has timed out....
If I want to edit my own post I then have to seek help from a moderator. (at my age this feels like standing in front of the headmaster and saying 'Please Sir....apologies for my spelling mistake but I have forgotten my pen and can't change it')
Some of you may think ...why is she going on about this...its no biggie?
I disagree...its a real biggie to me. (Apologies.... this is just the way I am)
Also...we have seen a post today by an experienced member (I will spare his blushes) where autocorrect or predictive text put Rant when it should have said Really. That could have caused distress to the OP
All I am asking for... is a much longer period of time to edit our posts please?
Rant over

As I said..I am not in the ball game of making repeated posts (says she..repeating herself)...
I am just old and slow and a grammar nazi

Hi guys,
A few things from me:
- The current edit time is 30mins but I'm happy to extend it slightly. How long would you each want personally?
- As some have said here, everyone (myself included) should always check their posts before replying for spelling mistakes, or if you have included EVERYTHING you need to put in the post. There is also a spell-check facility on the post-creator, but I understand that it does miss things at times, especially English grammar.
- There will never be edit guidelines (i.e. spelling errors only) as it will be impossible to manage. As some have said here, I can see exactly what has been edited, so I can always check if there are concerns about an edit.
Hope that all makes sense.

Ok, I'll start the ball rolling at 2 hours. That's more than adequate I think.

I would like longer @jonsie I am not as quick as you flicking from post to post..(my problem not yours)
I would like 4 hrs please...if at all possible.
In my personal opinion if I have not picked up my own spelling/grammatical errors in that time...then I should stop posting on the forum and go and find a good book to read instead
