I want to start a new thread about this as it is being mentioned on another one (taking it off topic)
I know we have discussed and had an explanation about Deleting Posts...to some extent I can understand the reason why we can't do that...
However, editing posts is a very different ball game in my opinion.
I often notice spelling mistakes I have made (purely by trying to dash a response off quickly)...if I notice them immediately, I edit immediately and no problem...
However, if I see it hours later it galls me that the edit facility has timed out....
If I want to edit my own post I then have to seek help from a moderator. (at my age this feels like standing in front of the headmaster and saying 'Please Sir....apologies for my spelling mistake but I have forgotten my pen and can't change it')
Some of you may think ...why is she going on about this...its no biggie?
I disagree...its a real biggie to me. (Apologies.... this is just the way I am)
Also...we have seen a post today by an experienced member (I will spare his blushes) where autocorrect or predictive text put Rant when it should have said Really. That could have caused distress to the OP
All I am asking for... is a much longer period of time to edit our posts please?
Rant over

I'm the opposite and would say no edits, period
Take your time, check your words before posting and answer fully the first time (as per T&C's) and there is no need.....
And I would say to that comment...forget it!!!
Its ok for folk like you @MI5 who can type with the speed of light and are actually not too bothered if you make a small error (rarely).... you are also a 'man of few words' but... we are not all as wondrous as you!!
I can't type fast. I am a grammar nazi...and take a lot longer than you.
I am NOT, repeat not, talking about re-editing posts to add links or whatever else folk do...
So as much as I admire you and rarely disagree with you...this is a no brainer for me..and i make no apologies for inferring we are all different....

Just to make my point about typing slowly...I actually started my reply to MI5 when he made his first observation...by the time I posted it...after checking it carefully there were 8 more posts

I think the current time frame is ok personally if you really need to say something else you can always post again
For me @Anonymous its not really about 'saying something else'....its about correcting spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.(or even changing a wrong link I may have included).
I dont want to go back and make another post to say 'Oh whoops I should have spelt it this way, not that way'
There has been a lot of talk in the past about people upping their post count. I never ever want to be accused of that.
I just am not as fast as some moving from topic to topic. That should not inhibit me from posting..(or going back to make a correction).....:smileysad:
