I want to start a new thread about this as it is being mentioned on another one (taking it off topic)
I know we have discussed and had an explanation about Deleting Posts...to some extent I can understand the reason why we can't do that...
However, editing posts is a very different ball game in my opinion.
I often notice spelling mistakes I have made (purely by trying to dash a response off quickly)...if I notice them immediately, I edit immediately and no problem...
However, if I see it hours later it galls me that the edit facility has timed out....
If I want to edit my own post I then have to seek help from a moderator. (at my age this feels like standing in front of the headmaster and saying 'Please Sir....apologies for my spelling mistake but I have forgotten my pen and can't change it')
Some of you may think ...why is she going on about this...its no biggie?
I disagree...its a real biggie to me. (Apologies.... this is just the way I am)
Also...we have seen a post today by an experienced member (I will spare his blushes) where autocorrect or predictive text put Rant when it should have said Really. That could have caused distress to the OP
All I am asking for... is a much longer period of time to edit our posts please?
Rant over

@aldaweb wrote:Of course spell checkers still allow their or there instead of they're and "should of" instead of "should have " or even "should've"' amongst others.
Exactly @aldaweb ...my point being that spellcheck corrects wrong spelling but not wrong use of words.
Also more importantly, it does not correct grammatical errors and layout. Only the poster can put that right...
Thats why I was asking for the timeout to be extended.:smileywink:
PS apologies for late reply..Bt yahoo email notifications on a go slow again

I've changed it to 60 minutes to see if this helps. This will be the limit of time we can give and I may revert it back in the future if it is deemed necessary.
See if it helps

@Toby I would have replied earlier but this damn BT yahoo mail is playing up for the third day in a row and I am not getting email notifications
That aside..... 60 minutes isn't as long as I had hoped for but I do realise I was probably the only one looking to extend it for 24 hrs or longer...
However, I will persevere and try and get round a bit faster Thanks anyway

Hi...
I note that my thread has now been given an accepted solution. I would like to point out I didn't mark it as such?
As far as I was concerned @Toby was TRYING an extended 60 minutes timeout which would have been under review.
So none of us really know as yet, if this is actually the solution?
I am really not being pedantic about this. I have always thought that until a trial had been reviewed and had an agreed outcome there could not be a solution....?

Must have been a site manager or moderator.
As your the op I think you can Un mark it as a solution yourself.
