You are not able to change the ring tone to the uk one as your not in the uk.
When you are abroad you get there ring tone, engade tone and sometimes depending on which network you connect to there warning messages in there language.
You also gain some of there services in addition to your own back in the uk.
I also know that some networks aborad when you roam on them allow you to use there own shortdials when speaking to there own network for customer care problems.
Use iPhone XS Max dual sim, SE, Honor 10, IPad Pro 11, Apple Watch 4 LTE, 100+ Mpbs Barrier and a Record Player.

I have some good news. . . . After reading some of your requests on this forum I decided to create simulation service which you can easily use that will allow your callers to hear an international ring tone as if you were abroad.
Follow these simple steps:
1. You will need to set-up your call divert
2. Divert your voice calls to the following number '08700 699600' (please note: this number will just constantly ring playing the international ring tone to your callers as if you were abroad)
I hope this solves your problem.
Cheers.

Also where does the call go? or do they just here the phone ringing?
The reason why the caller heres a different tone is to let the caller know that you arent in the uk.
Use iPhone XS Max dual sim, SE, Honor 10, IPad Pro 11, Apple Watch 4 LTE, 100+ Mpbs Barrier and a Record Player.

The call goes to a simple service which plays the international ring tone to your callers. You can dial the number from any phone and see for yourself.
I concur with your statement about why the caller hears a different tone but it seems that some of the people on this forum have a need for it. . . .
