Same problem for me too!

Am moving to Australia and don't want to incur a cancellation fee (£300+) or keep paying for a service I will no longer use!

Would love to just stop my direct debit, but alas, renting out my flat means the bailiffs may show up threatening my tenants!

prking...no need to get touchy about spelling, don't think you'd be too pleased if you had someone taking the mick if you made a mistake :womanindifferent:
No need to be sarcastic with the roll-eyes, I didn't get touchy about spelling. I put the word in quotes because that is what he posted. You should be aware that councillor and councellor mean different things. It isn't clear which he meant and it still isn't clear why a councillor or councellor (or even a counselor) would be able to help if one is moving abroad. I would genuinely be interested to know how.

I am looking at moving overseas also and was looking at call diverting my mobile - because I have the contract for another year and most people currently call me on my UK mobile. Initially it will be expensive but I will keep calls short and over time more people will have the new number.

However- I also get a fair number of texts which I believe do not get forwarded- and I would like to check them from time to time so I believe that I would need to turn off call divert from outside of the UK

Is there a way to turn call divert on and off from outside of the UK?
Or, is there a way to forward text messages automatically to another number (or email) while call divert is on?

thanks in advance

O2's debt collectors can not touch you outside the UK, why worry?

I don't exactly think that is a responsible attitude to take. What if the OP comes back to the UK at some point?

You're right Dowers to divert your calls to an international number is going to be very expensive, have you though about just having all your calls go to voicemail with the greeting advising callers of your new number?

There are some countries where your short codes for altering divert settings etc will work, generally these are o2's 'home from home' countries meaning your phone should work like it does in the UK but I wouldn't 100% rely on it.

Unfortunately there isn't any way you can have your texts forwarded but the good news is that no matter where you are in the world it's free to receive them slight_smile

You sign up to 18 months (for example) airtime, whether you actually use the service or not. (I didn't make 1 call or send a text last billing month, and obviously I still had to pay the bill).
