my iphone says o2 but doesnt get no bars of signal?

recently brought a new iphone 4s off a friend(was factory reset before i started using it), got a brand new micro sim from o2 shop (pay as u go) and installed, phone works, wifi works, set up itunes account and downloaded apps and works, yet cant get any signal or make/recieve cals/texts?? it says o2 in top left, but no bars of signal?

By ruling the sim out, it can only be the phone blocked or faulty.

ok now its got even more strange..... it has 3g and internet works and everything..... but no texts or calls or working 😕 what the hell?

You can make calls with the sim when you tried it in the other phone?

If you've performed a recent sim swap then full service can take 24 hours + to come online.

Keep turning the iPhone off and on.

right, just swapped sims over, the sim card works fine in my open network iphone 4, so im guessing its not the sim card.
when i put my vodafone sim in the new iphone 4s it said activation required, so its obv locked to o2.
but its really odd that when i put my new working sim into the new iphone 4s that it has 3g and the internet works, and says o2 at the top left, yet has no signal nor makes or recievs calls 😕 wtf 😞

As I said ring o2 and ask if it has been imei barred
