iPhone 6 - 4G question

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

Quick question, does the new iPhone 6 work on O2's 4G network? if not when will it?

The whole '4G ready' advertising makes it confusing.

I ask as the old iPhone 5 didnt and i read somewhere the O2 4G network wasnt compatible with the type of LTE offered by the phone. Since then things have changed, iPhone is now compatible with more LTE networks but is o2's one of them?

Cheers

Hi OllieC and Welcome to the forum.

Yes the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus accepts the 4G frequency the O2 Network has purchased which is 800mhz band 20 the european standard.

The iPhone 5 unfortunately did not have the correct frequency bands in it. It did work on ee's Network.

The iPhone 5s has the correct frequencies too.

You will need a 4G Nano Sim card which are available at any 02 shop. Check if yours says 4G on it. If not the shop can perform the swapmysim for you which moves your number and tariff from your original sim to the new sim.

You will need a 4G Tariff.

And check if your are in a 4G catchment area via

The 5s is O2 friendly, so I'm guessing the 6 will be.

Pick up a sim in any O2 store (they are account specific so get the correct one) and they can either do the swap instore for you or you can do it at any time to suit yourself on line.
