Unlocking iphone 5s

Anonymous
Not applicable
I wanna unlock my 5s cuz I am gonna work abroad soon.
I phoned them, twitted them and live chat with them. All of O2 staff said I can unlock it once I pay off my phone plan.
But on official website it says: except the 5c & 5S which can't be unlocked.
So my question is: who's information is correct? Can I unlock my 5s immediately if I pay my phone plan?

Cheers

I wonder... Are the networks supposed to crumble and give in when they see threats like this....?

Am I the only one who looks at the fact that O2 will unlock phones for free to contract and at a charge to payg as a perk and not something they should be expected to do when the phone was bought locked to their network?

I really don't see the point of locking contract phones but fully support the PAYG rules.....

I'm puzzled that they can come here and make these threats, but don't come here first to ask for advice before spending large amounts of money on these things.

You'd think they would come here first, or at least searched online if not sure.

Plus you'd think people would know by now that buying from O2 or other network provider would mean the phone won't be unlocked but you can buy it sim free from the manufacturer...

Exactly I can't really see what people moan about with this unlocking

Why would anyone come on a network forum to ask things like this before buying, or seeing a nice phone in a shop, would they say to the pushy salesmen, no I must go on the forums first?  I wouldn't want customers coming on here because it would scare them away!  Judging by a lot of the content on here, O2 is terrible, and I can vouch for that!

I need my phone unlocking because the masts near my workplace are overloaded and the internet doesn't work, even though 3G is showing, so I have to use a Three sim when in work just to get a connection, luckily though my 5S from carphone warehouse came unlocked.

If you're happy to spend £600 or more on a device you know little about, you are likely to be where you are now, stuck.

A few checks would have told you all you needed to know.
