Been looking on the internet on how to unlock the iPhone 5... Mostly curiosity.
And came across a few sites where they do a IMEI unlock.... I was wondering how they do it? Surely it must be illegal?
But to my main point (Last sentence), is this true?

It does give this disclaimer on the CPW iPhone page:
"Please note: iPhone will lock itself to the network of the first SIM card that is used in the phone. Subsequently attempting to use it on any other network, for example by replacing the SIM card, may mean it becomes permanently unusable. SIM free iPhones can only be used with a UK-network SIM card, and will not accept foreign SIM cards."

I have been trying to get them to unlock my iphone 4g since january,72 hours they say,and then no joy, fill in another unlocking form and no formal response,my experience with o2 is that although they say don't worry it will be unlocked, top priority they don't do it,and then they give no reason why not,in fact they don't even bother to contact you at all,I am sick of trying, very soon I will just sell the poxy thing locked to o2 on ebay and get an unlocked one from somewhere else

Flagged, there is no need for language like that in a public forum.

Whereas I wholly agree that the posters language was totally inappropriate for a public forum, the converse is that, if O2 had provided better service to its customer, then he might not have become so angry and frustrated that he posted in the manner he did. Immediately criticising him for his language without commenting on his legitimate, if unfortunately phrased complaint, smacks of "attack is the best form of defence".
