Is it possible to add an Apple Watch for my child on O2? I am with o2 and have an iPhone of my own and my own Apple Watch is linked to that. I am trying to work out if I can get a cellular watch with o2 with its own number for my daughter to use without a phone of her own. There is a lot of contradictory information on this topic.

@Miso

As I understand, yes you can.
It would need to be linked to your child’s number, which if on your account is possible but best done in store.
Take photo ID with you as may be needed.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Hello. We are in same situation. Please could you update us on how you managed to resolve this. Could you setup the watch with O2 using a different number for your childs watch but remaining under family setup? Many thanks.

If that question is aimed at @Miso, it needs a tag thus. However, @Miso has not logged into this community since mid-April, so do not hold your breath waiting for a reply. 👍

Currently trying to work this out too. Have you had any joy? I can only find one airtime plan for watch and it’s £7 per month and says 1gb data. No mention of calls or texts being included but on the tariff list it gives cost per min and per text.

Pretty sure that an iPhone is required in order to bond it to the Apple watch, @Sausages- that plan you have found has to go hand-in-hand with a contracted O2 SIM or eSIM plan in a contract iPhone - "for O2's Watch Airtime Plan, you need an existing O2 Pay Monthly contract on a compatible iPhone and an Apple Watch that is compatible with your phone. While some cellular smartwatches can function independently for calls, texts, and apps, setting up the cellular data plan for an Apple Watch on O2 requires a paired iPhone with an active O2 Pay Monthly personal account on the same network provider. "

The only way not to need a watch data plan is if the watch remains connected to a contract phone via bluetooth.

@pgn  is correct, the Apple Watch needs to be connected to a PAY Monthly contract if bought from o2, and it will use your handsets minutes and texts, as it is connected to the phone via the service..

The cost list is just what they put on all plans, but you cant be charged them..

If you want your child to have an Apple Watch. buy it from Apple it will be so much easier..

This is not customer services and we dont have access to your account
I do not work for o2 or any VMo2 /Telefonica/Liberty Global Company
