All you need to do is put a non o2 sim in the phone and it will unlock automatically.
It doesn't need to be completed to use another O2 sim so your daughter can just put her sim in and use the phone.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

If she is only going to be using an o2 sim, then it doesn't matter.
If she is using a sim from another company then it does need to be unlocked.
However I believe that the using itunes is no longer applicable - @MI5 can you confirm (as I don't have an iPhone or history with them)?

However you may need to delete you the phone from your id  or your daughter could be seeing your texts etc.
