Texting overseas on my iphone 4

Anonymous
Not applicable

I acquired a new iphone 4 about a month ago on contract. It all worked fine except it wouldn't send texts to the U.S despite my being able to call the U.S and receive texts from there. Nobody could work this out and I was given a new phone that texted the U.S just fine. For a week!!! Then no. I can still call my pal there and receive her texts but mine just won't go. Luckily I still have my old Samsung which texts her  just fine. Any clues? I don't really want the hassle of changing phones again but this is really mystifying and frustrating.

Hi,

Once you've tried to send a text (to someone in the USA) are you getting an error or does it appear as though it's gone like with any other regular text message..?  And are you texting just a sole number or many..?

From a similar post about iPhone texting problems, you could try getting the messaging settings re-sent to your iPhone, using the link below, but this is normally for MMS (picture) messaging I believe, but perhaps it also affects regular SMS messages.  Worth a try anyway.

Something else... if you had a non-iPhone handset before then it might be good to talk with O2 customer services and make sure all the various network settings have been changed with your account.

No doubt others here will have some good ideas too!
