At my local train station where I start my daily work commute (Sanderstead) my iPhone 6 sometimes displays that it has '4G' connectivity however trying to browse twitter, facebook or even safari, takes longer than if I was using GPRS......!
The same story with my daily commute home, which starts at London Bridge rail station. The second I step onto the train, my iPhone 6 can drop its '4G' connection, right down to 'No Network'...?!?!
I always put it down to the volume of people in the same area at any given time (this station is MEGA busy!!) but this article now suggests that it is indeed the naff infrastructure.
