Hi
I've got a 1Gb of Data allowance on my contract but during this month I have used this up, along with 1 x 500Mb bolt-on and yesterday I added a second 1 x 500Mb. Of that second one it appears I used 100Mb of data yesterday. I turn my 3G off overnight, I don't watch videos or stream radio on my phone, so I don't know how it's possible I'm spending so much on data.
On my previous contract I only had 500Mb of data in my allowance. Any time I did go over this I would use about 800Mb max.
Does anyone know what the issue might be?

Hi,
I'm using an iPhone 5 with a 1gb data package and consider myself a heavy user and don't get near my limit.
You are aware you don't have to buy a bolt on and just make do with a throttled speed !
Your apps update in the back ground.
Updating apps uses data.
iCloud performs back ups automatically which uses data
Siri uses data.
Reading e mails uses data.
Go into settings, general, about and look right down at the bottom where it says diagnostics and usage. Choose don't send.
settings, privacy, Location services, system services{right at the bottom} = Turn them all off.
Their is lots of instances of using data if you GooGle search.
If you ring 02 on 202 from your mobile they may be able to enlighten you on your usage.
If all else fails maybe a sim swap could possibly help.
Turn off mobile data & 3g.
I do this when at home so my phone does not switch from WiFi to 3g when it goes to sleep.

In addition to the above, was your old contract for a different type of phone, ie. non-iphone? If yes then call O2 to ensure they make changes to your service to operate for an iPhone. Data works differently so it 'could' be the cause.

thanks both.
I've been on an iphone for a few years now, just upgraded to the 5. I've done all I can think of to stop wasting data like turning off siri/iCloud etc. Guess I need to give the heavies a call.
