Can I use my existing iphone plan for my new iPad?

As above really.  I certainly don't need a new plan as i don't use the data i have on my iphone.

I also don't need another mobile number.

Just connect your ipad to the phone using the hotspot

Obviously you can use wifi at home

That way you still have the use of your phone
