Advice on unlock request form

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hello, I have recently tried twice to unlock an iPhone 5S using the online request form. On both occasions, the reply I receive says the mobile number is not associated with the IMEI but both the number and the IMEI are 100% correct and have been checked before submitting the information. Does the SIM card associated with the number have to be in the phone at the time the unlock is requested? I am using a Giffgaff sim at the moment so the 02 sim has not been used while requesting the unlock.

Is there something that I'm doing wrong? The details I've entered are definitely correct, it's just the sim is not in the phone at the time of the requested unlock. Can someone advise me further please? Thanks!

Normally making some chargeable calls latches the imei of the phone to your O2 account.

Do that and then request the unlock again.

Ah, ok. That makes sense since I've never used the 02 sim since I've had the phone. The bill is always payed and up to date so I'll try what you suggested and report back. Thanks a lot for the quick reply. wink

You're welcome.

You should have no issues once you have made Some calls via the O2 sim

Weird that your paying for a Contract on O2 and not using the allowances that come with it !

Thanks. So say I just pop it in and phone the house phone or a family members mobile, that will tie the phone with the IMEI? A chargeable call would a call to anyone but a free phone number, correct?
