Advice on unlock request form

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hello, I have recently tried twice to unlock an iPhone 5S using the online request form. On both occasions, the reply I receive says the mobile number is not associated with the IMEI but both the number and the IMEI are 100% correct and have been checked before submitting the information. Does the SIM card associated with the number have to be in the phone at the time the unlock is requested? I am using a Giffgaff sim at the moment so the 02 sim has not been used while requesting the unlock.

Is there something that I'm doing wrong? The details I've entered are definitely correct, it's just the sim is not in the phone at the time of the requested unlock. Can someone advise me further please? Thanks!

O2's systems should update at midnight so the IMEI number and the mobile number should certainly associated together by tomorrow. Good luck slight_smile

@Anonymous a lot of people get the upgrade and never use the supplied phone and either pass on to a family member or sell it on ebay etc.

@adamtemp64 yes I'm aware of people doing that with the hardware but.

The op said they have never used the SIM CARD but make sure the bill is paid.....

Ah, ok. That makes sense since I've never used the 02 sim since I've had the phone. The bill is always payed and up to date so I'll try what you suggested and report back. Thanks a lot for the quick reply. "

Hey, I'm back again. So I've had the sim in since last night and made some calls and texts and used the internet on 3G as well. I've made three requests in the past few days and I'm wondering if it would be safe to do it again now or would repeat requests look bad? I've been told in this thread that the number should be latched to the IMEI now so do you think it'd be ok to put in another request?

I would think you'll be fine now. If you get a no this time then ring them on 202 from an O2 powered phone or From a landline 0844 809 0202 > 5p /for the unlock.

I'll give it a try. Just one more question. It asks for an email address which is the address it sends the email to regarding the unlock. Does it have to be the email associated with the pay monthly account or can I just put mine in so I can get the notification myself? Also, what is the process once it's been accepted? Hook up to iTunes or is it done via the phone now with the non 02 sim in?
