how do i transfer pics and contacts from my galaxy s4 to my new galaxy s6

Assuming you are integrated fully into the world of Google you don't need to transfer anything.
Once you sign in to your google account all your content will automatically sync across to the new phone.

Doesn't google back up your photos etc anyway. As @MI5 said, everything should just swap over.
