Please could someone tell me how long my (temporary) undeliverable sms will remain on the server before it is deleted. I have no settings on my Android phone to see what it is or alter it. I presume it is set by o2. But what is it?

SMS is the same, but no undelivered message.

Hi @Anonymous
Not sure how long a text will remain on your phone. It depends on the phone I think. I always imagine when I delete it, it's gone....
Are you looking to keep a text stored somewhere safely? Or have you sent a text which hasn't been delivered? Not sure which really?

Sorry if was ambiguous. SMS is sent from my phone to the big o2 server in the sky. But want to know how long it remains there if intended recipient has no signal. There is a copy of the sms kept on my phone. And thank you for your response. BTW I am on monthly contract...

Hi @Anonymous Ah now I see....but sadly can't answer. This would require input from someone with a great understanding of mobile network technology...and that isn't me.:smileywink:
No worries, someone will be on here later who will be able to answer your question....

Never one to give up I have discovered via Google that a SMS can remain undelivered for up to 7-10 days depending on the network. Nothing specific about O2 though....

Yes seven days is the validity period during which the phone will try to send the message even though it will show on your phone as sent. There is no way to guarantee the sms has been received, only that it has been sent.
