Check your apn settings here http://www.geeksquad.co.uk/articles/o2-apn-settings#Android
Make sure you have data enabled on phone and can I also check if this is a new account or an upgrade and if so from what phone?

Once the data bolt on is changed, text ACTIVE to 2020, save the settings and reboot the phone.

Your data should still work with an iPhone bolt on but may not work properly.
Have you checked the other things I mentioned at all?
