What is data roaming and when do you need to select it?

Data roaming is for when you need to connect to another network, when abroad for example.

Thanks, so I should just leave this unchecked unless I go abroad?  I thought that was probably the case, just wanted to check.

Correct, but check here for what else to do before you go abroad to keep charges down.
