nhs discount-have i got 28 days after upgrading to claim it?

Hi

I upgraded to a new mobile 10 days ago. I have just been told by a friend I am entitled to a 30% discount as I work for the NHS.
I have applied and recieved my notification code. I signed my new contract 10 days ago. Can I still claim this discount? I have been told I have up to 28 days after signing my contract to claim the discount.
Can anyone advise me if this is correct

If You have the code then you could nip into an o2 store.

Or "If you already have your open code you text OPEN followed by your open code, mobile number, name and postcode to 2020"

How come NHS people get a discount from O2?   I thought there was supposed to be a level playing field for all customers?

@Anonymous o2 provide a discount scheme for corporate accounts i.e. many large companies have all there phones with one supplier and then employees of that company get a staff benefit that do not get a mobile phone as part of the job. So it is a staff perk the employer is allowed to give.
