nhs discount-have i got 28 days after upgrading to claim it?

Hi

I upgraded to a new mobile 10 days ago. I have just been told by a friend I am entitled to a 30% discount as I work for the NHS.
I have applied and recieved my notification code. I signed my new contract 10 days ago. Can I still claim this discount? I have been told I have up to 28 days after signing my contract to claim the discount.
Can anyone advise me if this is correct

Thanks

And how do you think I feel  @Anonymous ? I worked for the NHS all of my life. I was with Orange then..

Just about the time I left the NHS and moved to O2...they started the discount scheme Crazy

The 28 days are the timescale for you to apply, however, if O2 can see evidence you have been trying before the 28 days expire, you can continue to apply after this time and the discount will still apply. Note, if it then gets applied 2 months later, O2 wouldn't then backdate what youve missed as it is a selfserve discount that you have the facility to request yourself.
