I have a new Sony Z3, I always had Sony/Sony Ericsson for the last 15 year!!

Anyway here's my problem, I have always been able to send an mms without having to manually turn the mobile data on and off but with this phone I do! Is it the phone or the settings?  I'm told by o2 quite catagorically that I have never been able to send or recieve a picture message without having to MANUALLY turn my mobile data on and off - I think I know what I've been doing for the last umpteen years, but I was more or less told I'm making it up which has made me quite angry with them cos I can happily put the sim card back in my old phone and do it!!! I have a picture message bolt on so I could just happily continue to send my picture texts anytime and carefree as in the past without having to do anything but press send on my messaging app - although of course according to o2 this was just a daydream I've been having for numerous years.  Please someone tell me I'm not going mad and am I missing some setting or something.  In hope for my sanity.

Hi J-A-B

You're Welcome.

I hope the end result is that your either comfortable on how that particular phone works ,or you change phone which you can do once on a refresh tariff.

I love the phone, only had it a couple of days, always love my Sonys get them for the great camera, have the z table and smart tv too, just a very disappoint, inconvienient restriction Sony have put on it by doing this!! I could change it as I'm in my cooling off period of 14 days but I'll stick with it, bought the dock, cover and everything before I'd even ordered my upgrade so it's a keeper 🙂  Thanks for your help and now I've found you I know where to come to when I need advise and help.  Thanks everyone, you are all stars 🙂 Jeni xx

The message received on both.
I don't remember having a problem with z1 but z2 was definitely the same.

I agree they are a fantastic line of phones.

I was fortunate enough to trial the Sony Xperia Z for O2 and really liked it.

As you've bought into accessories I don't blame you sticking with it either.

Oh, and keep it, it's the most minor of problems and won't be long til the mms format is obsolete anyway.
For the price of 2 mms, WhatsApp is Soooooo much better.

If you really like the phone, stick with it. MMS is an inconsequential part of the experience. There are other ways to message, and ways that won't cost you 40p a go. You'll go off MMS pretty quickly once you get a whopping bill for it.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

My Z1 can send/receive with data off.

S3 and S4 can too so it's a Sony thing on later handsets for some reason?

I haven't tried the Asus but I suspect it will work the same as normal Android does.

The OP has a bolt on so shouldn't get any further bills.
