Xperia z1 compass

Have all, does anyone have a problem with the compass on their Xperia z1, I have tried various apps, and on none of them can I get the compass to work, I think it may be a problem with the magnometer, I have tried the service tests, and the accelerometer works, the gyroscope works, but not the compass.

Are you still under warranty? If so, contact Sony for a repair.

Any chance you have it in a case with magnetic clasp?

I don't have it in a case, so there is no issue there.

i bought the phone through o2 so it should still be under cover with them, i will have to get in touch with them to see if they can replace the handset, as i cant do without a phone, its the only one i have.  when i was with orange, they used to send out a replacement next day fo faulty handsets, im hoping o2 will be the same high standard

You really would be best advised to get the phone back to Sony if it is still under warranty as you say.

Contact details here. Give them a ring first and see what they advise.. wink

I understand that but O2 repairers don't have a very good reputation sadly.. Of course it is entirely up to you but if the phone is in warranty then the manufacturer is the route we usually suggest. At least Sony are specialists of their own phones. Anova (O2 repairers) have to repair all brands

O2 will only swap a device if it develops a fault in the first month.
I would bypass O2 and get Sony to fix it

I would also back the advice of others and deal direct with Sony but obviously you will be without a phone until it is repaired.

If you do decide to deal with O2 via the store, loan phones are available with a returnable deposit of £25 but these are very basic handsets.
