Anyone know how to make this phone usable?

Pretty much since the 2nd or 3rd week I got it (bought it in January), it's been slow, unreliable and a general pain in the backside.

Answering a phonecall is pot-luck, ringing someone from your recent calls list is a laugh (it usually transfers you to someone totally different to the person you selected) and generally speaking its just a useless, useless phone. Any ideas?

I'm due an upgrade next month and am considering getting an iPhone.

Well it sounds like it needs a software update or the operating system is failing.

You could hand it into 92 for service / repair !

I use the iPhone 5 and am happy with it. Hopefully Apple will soon release the 5s or 6 whatever they deciide to call it.

Take into account the current iPhone 5 will not run on 02's 4g service when
It's released.

Most likely the fudged O2 firmware, my GF has a Xperia U running Sony generic firmware & none of the problems reported here.

Try backing it up & use the Sony PC companion to do a re install of the firmware.

Back EVERYTHING up first!

Flashing it with the generic Sony Xperia U firmware would be even better BUT only if you know what your doing.

FWIW: You could send it away as Sony handset warranty is 2 years & deal with them yourself directly - DON'T send it to O2 for repair!

Thanks for the advice folks - I have done a complete reinstallation before, as that's all Sony were willing to offer as advice.  They weren't interested in fixing the phone for me.

Re. the 4G internet on iPhone 5/5s - that doesn't bother me too much, the Xperia U hardly connects to any non-wireless internet - i.e 3G doesn't appear to exist on the phone and most of the time it displays an 'H' while not allowing access to any webpages.

Phone I had prior to this was a Blackberry and I thought that was bad, but wow, the Sony just takes the biscuit.

Will never buy a Sony or Android again.
