I am wondering how do i turn the 3g on, on my Xperia T?

Maybe

Settings>More>Mobile Networks>Network Mode>WCDMA(Preferred)/GSM

That's how I change to 3G/HSDPA/2G on my Xperia S

Settings >More Settings >Mobile Networks and tick "Mobile Data"
