I bought my son a second hand HTC and put an O2 pay as you go SIM in it. It all works great apart from the Internet... He can't connect at all. Any ideas?

You may need to visit the O2 shop or maybe a standalone cellphone shop or possibly ask a friend / relative with more knowledge to take a look at it.

Can you try the sim in an alternative phone to see if the Internet works ok as a process of elimination.

Go to settings then "Mobile + SIM". Make sure Data connection is turned on in there, then scroll down to "SIM Settings" and turn off Manual apn, then reboot.
Are you getting G, E, 3G or H displayed at the top of the screen at all, next to the signal strength?
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
