Unlocking problems - HTC One X+

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi guys,

Recently bought a One X+ from eBay, brand new, sealed, unwanted contract upgrade from O2. I use a different network, and I'm sure you can all see where this is going...

I've tried all the usual avenues, 3 different websites who all took an age to eventually tell me they couldn't help. I spoke to an O2 "guru" online who told me to go to a store, who told me to go online.

Is my best option going to be grabbing a PAYG SIM and slinging £20 on there to register that number with the IMEI and then using the standard form? Or does anyone know a of a better/cheaper way or a reason not to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Ah, hang on! Last gasp idea. What if I plonk a friend's pay monthly SIM in the HTC, fire off a few texts and calls and then fill in an unlock request with his details? Would that work and not nobble my mate in any way?

What, really!? You're not yanking my proverbial chain, here? It's just that this isn't a method that came up in any of my searches of the community...

There is absolutely nothing stopping you unlocking the phone by using a friends contract sim as long as you can answer his security questions.
