Hello.
I am on pay and go .
I have a samsung j700i
Can someone please tell me how to "Turn off phone data"
I was told to do this by live help from 02.
They took £2 from my account without my permision, and they refunded me, and told me to turn off phone data.
Thank you.

TheFlintstone is correct whereby the access points have to be disabled to prevent using data. A data tariff such as text and web or go go go need a monthly top otherwise data is still charged daily. It would depend how much the OP normally tops up as to whether changing tariff is a viable option.
Another option would be to ask customer service to deprovision data on the account.

Try Settings > Network settings
Can you see the option to turn it off in there?

As this is an old slide type phone not an option to turn off but what you can do in settings is goto Settings > browser settings and edit the current profiles gprs settings, putting an extra character in the apn or login id so cant connect to internet or selecting a non o2 profile if shows one to prevent accidental connection

^^ Good point, step back in time remembering these non smart phones...but as you say editing the APN will do the trick!

Well thank you all for your advice:smileyhappy:
As it happens, my j700 bit the dust last night.
I was trying to do a text message, and the thing would not let me.
You know when you have to klick 3 times to get 'f ', well it stopped at one click 'd '
This happened on most of the keys,
I know how to fix it, but its going in the bin!
A brand new galaxy y is on its way.
jonsie,,Im on 'pay&go, and only top up say every 2 months.
bandobrothers,,I did'nt know i could get on the internet, with 'pay&go'. I thought you had to have a tarriff to access the net?
Oh, and my lady friend has had £3 taken from her account too
So it looks like a word with 02 live chat this weekend, again
Anyway, thank you all for your help.:smileyhappy:

O2 are only taking what they're entitled to, she needs to turn off the data or get a data allowance.
You will be in the same position with your new phone unless you decide whether you want data or not.
