Can someone tell me how to turn off voice mail from abroad? I am not in Europe and dialling 1760 does not work from where I am. Furthermore I tried looking on the web site to see if it could be done from there, and don't think it can. Was wondering why not?
Its very annoying with Samsung android phones (like s2 and Note 3 which I have) because they keep giving notification about voice mail and there is no way to deactivate that notification - so it beeps up every time you turn the phone on.
Furthermore if I try to call from my pay as you go sim it seems to be blocked for international roaming calls from here. I don't know why, as was not blocked whilst roaming in Europe. So that's another question.
Many thanks

1 As you have been advised you cannot turn it off once out of the uk (yet there was a thread where this worhed via shortcode)
2 Ignore o2 travel link as you have said you are out of europe.
3 check here for roaming in the country you are in (if it says unavailable where cost should display then there is no payg roaming) http://international.o2.co.uk/internationaltariffs/travelling_abroad
If no roaming on payg in current country then only live chat is available to you and I doubt they can turn it off.

Hi,
Unfortunately Voicemail cannot be turned off while abroad as generally the shortcodes don't work while roaming. ie 1760 and 1750.
You could try Live Chat to ask about roaming and the Country your in, and if they can remotely turn Voicemail off, although I do not think they can.

Here is a link on Travel : http://www.o2.co.uk/international/o2-travel
One alternative if your phone is Unlocked to all Networks is to use a Local Sim until you return to the Uk to help stop roaming charges.

Hi, I have the same problem. I tried to switch O2 voice mail off by dialling 1760 before I left UK. It didn't work. I even called o2 customer care 3 times from airport whilst still in UK but was told I had to do it manually. Now I'm abroad and keep getting voicemail which I know will incur charges.
I use a separate local SIM in another mobile here so don't need roaming, except to receive free sms text from UK abroad ( not Europe).
Can anyone from o2 help? And switch off voice mail?

I just tried dialling 1760 from Asia (using an iPhone 5s) and it worked just fine. Keyed it in on the keypad, and bingo! Voicemail now off.
Phone had my normal SIM card, which picked up a local network when I landed and switched it back on.
