Are you running Android Gingerbread or ICS?

These instructions work for ICS:

Go in to SETTINGS, WIRELESS & NETWORKS, MORE..., MOBILE NETWORKS, then look in NETWORK MODE what is the phone set to?

WCDMA preferred / GSM is the default setting.

Try changing it to either WCDMA only or GSM only & see if the signal at your house improves.

Firstly check for any network issues in your area http://status.o2.co.uk/. If all ok here you need to check your SIM in another phone. If still poor signal request a sim swap. If signal ok in another phone get your Sony checked for faults.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Try this....

Remove the battery WHILE IT IS TURNED ON

Wait a few seconds then restart the fone.

That is a hard boot and usually connects u to the best signal in ur area. This is also good it your fone freezes or does weird!!

Might struggle removing the battery on your XPS as it is not removable!
