Sony Xperia = a general question

Anonymous
Not applicable

a friend of mine has just upgraded to Sony Xperia (Experia?)

he doesn't know where to start - the guy in the Three shop in Keighley did something which would transfer contacts to his new phone = but no, or it could just be my friend 'can't see'

he feels he has to use the paper instructions manual with miniscule print in 'Swahili' wink to begin to use the phone

I've advised him to go back to the Three shop in Keighley or say use cpw shop in town

he never really got to grips with his previous phone = Galaxy6

but did take good photos with it likewise the Xperia

I have noticed a help guide at the top right hand corner of the android page

is it possible for someone not on O2 to come on the community & use that help guide ..... or does Three have something similar itself

Jane if it's the Xperia z2 or 3
There is a simpler launcher built in to allow technically "challenged" folk to use it.
Its a very very stripped down version of Android and can be activated by going to
Settings/ home / and select "simple home"

As for setting it up correctly,
Go to settings and select set up guide
This will set it up for
Mobile data
Wifi
Google account (he needs to use his old Samsung Gmail log in to copy over contacts)
Sony account (used for general sony services, not essential)
And then that's it.

thank you @viridis I have used pen & paper to make a note & will give it to my friend who can we call Eh-up-ow-do ..... if that does not flaut any O2C's t & c's please

I don't know if he has the Xperia Z2 or Z3

I saw him earlier today & suggested he ask questions to people here via me ie Eh-up-ow-do voices the question to me & I key it in on this thread ..... again if this is alright with O2C's t & c's

thanks again viridis slight_smile

thank you once again @viridis

under the circumstances this is going to be more difficult to do as Eh-up-ow-do doesn't know if he has an email address or not Crazy I do know he is on facebook (a relative put him on, against his wishes) ..... & even got his name spelt wrong slight_frown I doubt the said relative will know what email address he used

Eh-up-ow-do feels that technology has got away from him ..... that's no excuse/reason for not trying imho

so I'm encouraging him as best I know how eg if I can manage in the 12 months+ I've been on the O2C then so can he, if he wants to wink

thank you Thanks!

@Anonymous  please don't ever change LOL

I have just read your last two posts on here and am cracking up at "Eh-up-ow-do" (the name you appear to have given your friend)

Its a pity he doesn't join the forum....he would have a ready made user name...

Spit take..... Bouncy

PS...and I have kudoed you because you gave me the best laugh of the day....LOL
