See what you cannot do with 02

Did a deal on recycling my old 1Phone 5 with 02 for £100. They now tell me they cant find it. I told them I have proof of postage and was asked to fax it down. I do not have a fax or nearby facility. I was told to go to the 02 shop which is over 2 hours travel away return. I am told that they cannot accept a copy being sent via email?

With todays technology 02 are causing great inconvienience by using the old system of fax as ther main source of transmitting documents. "See what you cannot do with 02" should be their new communication slogan.

You can also fax from your pc too, it's often the only convenient way to send legal documents.

@jonsie is that still true? I thought it was with the sender to prove the item has been delivered before the onus passes to the receiver?

Without proof of receipt does the issue lie between the sender and the postal service?

I could be wrong so just going off what happened with me and some Amazon items, they couldn't prove they were delivered so had to issue a refund and take the issue with the postal service, the postal service wouldn't deal with me as I wasn't the sender....

The OP said they had proof of posting so I presumed they would be able to track the item had been delivered? I always can when I return items via the Post office, Parcel force or Hermes

Yes the op has proof but if o2 insist on seeing it then it's the next logical step. However why they won't accept a photo attached to a personal email in this day and age is a little strange. You can fake a fax much easier than a photo.

Because it harder to find a fax machine....
Thus less people can be bothered in their eyes?

Very possibly the reason but along with landlines, fax machines will soon be a dim and distant memory.

As mentioned before I sent it to 02 recycling, which I imagine is  wholly owned by Telefonica

I have complained about their process. Used to use Envirophone for disposal and never had a problem. I know now for next time.
