Samsung wave y wants a sim password!

Anonymous
Not applicable

My mum gave me her Samsung Wave y phone. I previously had a blackberry but the battery wasn't too good on it so I moved to this phone but when I put the sim in it asked for a sim password, I don't remember having one and the blackberry never asked me to type one in! How do I find out what this password is?

Are you sure its not the phone that needs unlocking. Is the wave an O2 or unlocked phone?

It's o2 as my mum was o2 and it worked fine for her, i asked her and she said she never used or needed passwords for it, it came up saying ''SIM password'' but my old password was 0000 and i removed it, so i have no idea what it's asking

Can you put the sim back in your blackberry and change the sim pin, or at least check that its turned off. It may not be asked for on the blackberry as the sim was never removed from it?

I tried that but I could not find a password for a sim anywhere on it, it asked me to type a new one, so i entered 0000, when i put the sim into the samsung again it asked for that pin, so i typed it in and it was accepted, then up came ''SIM password'' again! So it definitely is not on my sim 😞

I would pop into an O2 store and get a new sim then get your contract details swapped over to the new sim card. Also, have you tried a factory reset on the Galaxy?
