Anyone know of any issues charging the S3. I have bought a new battery and charger but cannot get it to charge. Help please 😞

It's because you have a chip that switches between mains and USB charging.
It does this automatically depending on what voltage you put into the charging port.
It seems like yours is stuck in USB mode.

Ah i see. Is it worth buying one of those docks where yoy can charge the battery out of the phone. Dont want to psend a fortune on repairs as due to ger new phone in June

Yes, that should charge your battery OK but it's worth seeing if it will be covered by warranty first ?

If your phone is still within warranty (2 years as per @MI5) then I would certainly try that route even if you decide to get a docking charger type device as well. After all you may decide to keep the phone some time.
