Samsung Kies & Windows 8 (A fix!)

Anonymous

So some users of Windows 8 are having trouble with Samsung Kies sync software. The main problem is Kies instantly crashing when you try to open it.

People on most forums are waiting patiently for Samsung to rectify the issue - but I came across a very simple solution in the meantime which works wonders.

  • After installing Kies - find the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Samsung\Kies [If you're using 64bit] or C:\Program Files\Samsung\Kies [for 32bit]
  • Open the file named Kies.exe.config in a text editor (Notepad will do)
  • Find the line the bottom which says: <supportedRuntime version="v4.0" />
  • Delete that line, save the file, then open Kies.

Snap not work for me either, I like Samsungs reply, Kies is now fully supported on Windows 8. Really I can't get it to work?
Sam-- Maybe it's your phone is at fault
Me-- Well my Tabs don't work either
Sam-- Ok then it's your ISP
Me-- My ISP?? where did that come from?
Sam-- Your ISP is not giving you the best speed to work with KIES
Me-- Really, what is the best speed my ISP is not giving me then please?
Sam-- You need a min of 2Mb to use KIES, What is your speed?
Me-- 78Mb D/L and 19Mb U/L, so I don't think it's my ISP Do you?
Me-- Hello?
Me-- Hello?
chat ended by advisor.
