I was just about to say turn off auto updates in developer options
I had a feeling it was in there, but didnt have the developer options in Settings. Wasnt sure if o2 had removed it, but seems its just a hidden menu (wasnt on my old s5)
I know it disables security updates too, but these are so few and few between anyway with o2

Well despite having turned off updates in developer options, my phone decided to update to Oreo last night (whats the point of that option then?). Anyway accepted the update and so far so good. Seems alot quicker to do stuff, and not needed to factory reset. Only issue ive noticed is now the phone doesnt beep once when you put it on charge (option is enabled), but i can live with that

Oh well @paulbacon 'those who ask, never receive...those who don't ask, always receive' ...

Anyway congratulations on your new update

Ha, true. Cant believe how much faster it actually is compared to Nouget. Wasnt bothered about updating because i didnt see any features i wanted in Oreo, but the speed increase is certainly something i wasnt expecting but is a welcome surprise

As I said previously, there was no way of stopping it now but you shouldn’t get notifications of any further updates.
Not a choice I’d make and I’d certainly keep a check myself manually for security updates.
Thats what is weird. The update wasnt there (nor was any notifcation) when i disabled the option in developer settings, yet the phone still decided to check for updates. All worked out well in the end tho
