So my mum downloaded a game to her android phone which I've now uninstalled it but she's got pops up coming up all the time every 2 seconds and then saying she's got a virus on her phone but she hasn't would it be best to reset her phone help me please thank you

Yes I think those pop ups will be from the downloaded game.

I picked this up from Internet ...

Your Android phone is likely showing pop-ups very often due to adware from a recently installed app, aggressive ads from legitimate apps using intrusive SDKs, or malicious browser notifications, often disguised as system alerts, which you can fix by uninstalling suspect apps, checking app permissions, using Google Play Protect, or enabling built-in browser ad blockers. 

On my android there is a pop up blocker 

You did right to uninstall it 

Clean up the phone as well most phones have a scan for viruses

You need to download and run the Malwarebytes app which will find and delete them
