Phonebook on bluetooth

I've just dragged myself into the 21st century and got a smartphone (Samsung S3 mini) it has paired with bluetooth in my car but not loaded contacts, does anyone know whether it's phone or car problem?

I have exactly same problem, I have got Samsung galaxy young and I got paired with my car but no data transfer.
My car is BMW 1 series. I went their website if my phone is not one of their compatible mobile listed and it is not. Is that the reason why data transfer do not work?

Just sorted mine out, it was that my contacts were on SIM card and not phone, working ok now
